Your haunches (golden) glisten,
even in the darkness.
Hovering, hunching near me
and I—half awake;
no fear nor dread
can break its way inside my head
because You are so close beside me,
sides heaving slowly
with Your deep steady breaths.
The storm allayed,
not one hair harmed
upon my head,
and not one drop of sweat
upon Your brow.
For darkness is helpless now,
in light
of You,
Lion so close beside me.
Never leave me.
Good night.

A poem to the Lion so close beside me, by Audrey AssadShe’s a Christian/Possibly Catholic (not sure yet, she doesn’t have a wiki page!) artist who posted this poem on her fb page, thought I’d share it since I love how she portrays God as a protector, comforter and companion. You can listen to her song ‘Restless’ here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0B2ybZpDeM Pretty good stuff! Have a great weekend friends! |
