Stand up and be counted.

Guys, take a look at this article http://protectthepope.com/?p=2785. It’s a report about how:

‘[On March 10] a mob of 70 young people, the majority female, entered the chapel, gathered around the altar, and shouted blasphemies. Some of the young women took their clothes off, while others made lesbian manifestations.’

This happened at a university chapel in Spain. Sigh, I am sickened and saddened by the entire incident. The amount of religious insensitivity is disgusting - desecrating our holy place of worship, and to make it worse, in the presence of Jesus Christ Himself. The comments from this article pierce my heart as well, and it just seems that everyone hates the Catholic Church and will find any reason possible to bring her down.

You know what’s the best part? The Gospel reading for today is Matthew 18:21-35, and the first two verses go:

Peter went up to Jesus and said, ‘Lord, how often must I forgive my brother if he wrongs me? As often as seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘Not seven, I tell you, but seventy-seven times. Yes, despite all the atrocities committed against the Church, we will continue to love and to forgive in the face of hate, anger and blasphemy. How can anyone hate her? Maybe it’s because as Catholics we’ve become too numb, too silent, too apathetic in the face of such events. Maybe we’ve learnt to retreat and pretend we do not exist when there is so much animosity and persecution. Maybe some of us are even ashamed to say that we believe in our Lord Jesus Christ. So my brothers and sisters, I implore you, stand up and be counted. We have a voice louder than any of the other wordly voices - that of Love Himself. Stand up, and love. Pray for those who persecute you, and try to love them despite every fibre of your human nature straining in resistance. And one day, maybe just one day, their eyes will be opened.

And just to clarify, the Catholic Church does not condemn homosexual individuals in any way, and only homosexual acts are considered sinful.

Peace be with you.

EDIT:

Was just thinking about it, and I really cannot see why people hate the church so much, even from a purely objective point of view. Instead of combating hate with hate the church responds with love - 1000 Spanish Catholics students attended a Mass of Reparation, in reparation of the evil committed. Instead of these 1000 Catholics going out to trash/abuse/insult the people involved (something that many others would do if something like that happened to them), they PRAYED for the forgiveness of THEIR sins. Wow, Now that is radical. Isn’t this witness enough to the awesome love that the Father has for all His children?

But still, haters gonna hate.

But Catholics are still gonna love.
