Hallo everbuddy, long time no see! Just wanted to share something I found interesting while reading the bible. Many times we use the phrase “blind faith” to describe that leap of faith we need to acknowledge Jesus as our Christ.. but on reflection I guess that’s not an accurate term to use.
Galatians 5:6 says that “… The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love”, while 1 Cor 13:2 says “If I have all faith so as to remove mountains but do not have love, I am nothing”. What this means to me is that we cannot have blind faith in Jesus, it must be a product of being loved and loving Him. Faith is a gift and that is granted when we experience His love, and has to be sustained by constantly reminding ourselves of this love He has for us and allowing ourselves to love Him in return. This is why St. Ignatius calls us to remember the times of consolation granted by God in periods of desolation. Our faith is not blind, but rather is a result of an intimate experience with Jesus.
Was watching The Rite last night (started at 12am no less :/) and to quote Greg -was an affirming experience despite the freaky parts. The part when the protagonist started to recite the Apostles Creed after he put his faith in God was super badass (not exactly the correct term to use but you get the idea), cuz the demon pissed in his pants after that. Haha.
Everyone has been asking what me what I’ve been up to and its basically 2 things. 1. Bumming (hence the blog name (:) and 2. Spending time with God. HOLIDAYS ARE GOOD! So praise God for the month that has just passed, looking forward to the next 2!
Happy holidays everybuddy.
