Matthew 13:44-46

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; on finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.”

So what happens if the treasure is found and dug up before we actually buy the field? And what happens if the pearl of great value is bought before we oursevles are able to buy it? Then, would all our efforts go to waste in selling all that we have… will we be left with anything?

I think this passage relates to our walk with God, that each of us are called to take that leap of faith - to put our hand on the plough and not look back, to sell everything we have and move towards the goal, to run the race with our eyes fixed on Jesus, to give and not count the cost… someone once told me that if we really want to follow Him, we should only count the cost once, and that is when we actually make the decision to do so.

Faith is not about making an informed decision, or a rational one. It defies science, logic and common sense. It is believing in something you cannot see, smell, hear, taste or feel. But ultimately it is about making that conscious choice to take that leap, with hope in all the promises entailed.

Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.

Are you one of them?
